Expatriate with Nigerian Experience onlyThe Project Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle management, financial performance, and successful delivery of multiple concurrent road, highway, and civil infrastructure projects within the region. This role demands a high level of autonomy, combining expert technical knowledge with hands - on leadership to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and profitably for the company. The Project Manager is directly accountable for project Profit & Loss (P&L) and maintaining strong client relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Financial Control• P&L Accountability: Directly manage and forecast all project financial aspects, including estimating, budget creation, cost tracking, subcontractor pay applications, and monthly projections. Actively seek cost - saving opportunities without compromising quality.• Scheduling Mastery: Develop, implement, and aggressively manage detailed CPM schedules, focusing on timely completion and effective crew and equipment utilization to minimize idle time.• Procurement: Coordinate and, where necessary, execute the purchase of key materials (asphalt, concrete, pipe) and large equipment rentals, negotiating optimal pricing and delivery logistics.• Change Management: Proactively identify scope changes and potential claims, preparing comprehensive documentation and negotiating fair settlements with the client and subcontractors.Field Leadership & Quality Assurance• Site Coordination: Work closely with Site Superintendents, providing technical guidance, resolving immediate field issues, and ensuring seamless coordination between all trades (earthwork, utilities, paving).• Technical Oversight: Ensure all construction activities conform strictly to plans, specifications, regulatory codes, and quality assurance standards relevant to road building (e.g., compaction tests, mix design compliance).• Safety Enforcement: Enforce the corporate safety program and site - specific safety plans. Conduct regular safety audits and lead investigations into any incidents, fostering a safety - first culture on all managed sites.Stakeholder Management & Communication• Client Relationship: Serve as the primary, professional representative of the company to the client, engineers, inspectors, and public officials. Manage expectations and ensure high levels of client satisfaction.• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain all critical project documentation (RFIs, submittals, correspondence, permits). Generate clear, concise, and timely internal and external progress reports covering financial health, schedule performance, and risk updates.• Team Development: Mentor and coach junior project staff, project engineers, and superintendents, contributing to the development of the company’s internal talent pool.Qualifications• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent practical experience.• Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with a minimum of 4 years in a Project Manager role directly responsible for road, highway, or related public works projects.• Specific Knowledge: Demonstrated proficiency in civil construction methodologies, contract law (AIA documents preferred), and relevant DOT/municipal standards.• Certification (Highly Valued): Project Management Professional (PMP) or a similar industry certification.Required Skills & Competencies• Autonomy & Decisiveness: Ability to operate independently, making quick, informed decisions that impact project cost and schedule.• Financial Acumen: Exceptional budget management, forecasting, and cost - to - complete analysis skills.• Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to lead and motivate small to mid - sized teams and effectively influence outcomes with clients and subcontractors.• Software Proficiency: Mastery of CPM scheduling software (e.g., P6, MS Project) and construction management platforms.• Adaptability: Demonstrated flexibility to manage concurrent projects ranging in size and complexity, often requiring travel between sites.
